Prevent scheduling gaps
using default content
|
|
Is your content planned several days or weeks in advance?
Do you frequently change your playout due to special occasions, events or updates?
Would you like to make sure not to have any blank timeslots when setting up or modifying your schedule?
This week we will show you why default content is a slick backup and should be defined for every playout.

Creator has several options to support you with automatic scheduling to always have something displayed on your digital signage.
You are probably familiar with the small flag icon that indicates a Playlist or an Arrangement to be the default content in this Project.
This shall be understood as your last line of defense against the void and can not be deleted from your Project.
When adding the first Playlist or Arrangement to your Project, Creator will ask you to define it as your default content.
Of course, you can change it later on with a secondary mouse click on any other Playlist (or Arrangement) and selecting it as new “Default”.
The default will not play back exclusively, it is rather supposed to be the backup when nothing else is scheduled.

With this fallback at hand, you can take a look at the “Day Templates” pane. One Day Template can be set as default content too. If defined, it is given priority over a default Playlist.
This way you could for example interrupt your default Playlist with an everyday morning schedule, lunch time special, evening update, ... – but that's optional if you want your Project to feature two individual (default) playbacks.
Go ahead and generate your schedule with a Campaign or create special Playlists / Arrangements to be dropped on specific calendar days.

You do not have to fill every minute of the day with special content. There will always be something displayed. The default content will backup your playout when nothing else is defined or if a scheduled content is not valid anymore.
